Who are we?

The association "Die kleinen Gallier e.V." was founded 1996 in Hanover by 10 French-German families with the aim of

bilingual and bicultural education for children.

The French speaking kindergarten opened its doors December 1996 for a group of 10 children. The pedagogic concept focuses on the immersion method, i.e. the educators speak French all over the day with the children. The educators are mostly French native speakers. The kindergarten was first located in the inner city of Hanover, close to Aegi. As the kindergarten moved to its new location between Döhrener Turm and Maschsee we took the opportunity to extend the group to 23 children (3 to 6 years old). In the afternoon, we started activities for children in French like telling stories and tales, showing picture books, French language courses...
After years of persuasion we finally convinced the local authorities to set up a French-German bilingual class in a primary school in Hanover. We celebrated this event in August 2002 at the Suthwiesen school in Hannover Döhren. In addition, the association offers French speaking child care on the afternoon and in the holidays for 25 children of the Suthwiesen school.
Meanwhile the little "Gallier" have grown up and the first generation leaved the primary school in summer 2006 and changed to the French-German bilingual class at secondary level at the Wilhelm-Raabe-Gymnasium or at the Stresemann-Realschule.
In October 2006, the "kleinen Gallier" have inaugurated a new day care for 15 small children between 18 months and 3 years old in Hannover Döhren.

What did we set up?

10 years after the foundation of the association we are proud that we've nearly reached our objective:
